Born October 31, 1916 in Dallas, Texas,
and went home to be with Our Lord November 7, 1999. She was
preceded in death by her mother, Mary Agnes McKenna Weaver and
father, Frank R. Weaver; sisters Ruth Weaver, Catherine Bondies
and
Mary Walsh; brothers Tom M. Weaver and William T. Weaver.
Mrs.
Colwell was a descendant of a large colonial family headed by
Joseph
Bolles who came to America in 1640, settling in Wells, Maine. Mrs.
Colwell graduated from Ursuline Academy where, during her senior
year,
she was was elected May Queen and served as President of her
class.
She also attended Southern Methodist University. Mrs. Colwell and
her
husband, Winston, were among the founding members of St. Rita
Catholic Church where she was past president of the Infant of
Prague
circle.
Mrs. Colwell is survived by her husband of 59 years,
Winston Apperson Colwell, son John McKenna Colwell and daughter-in-law,
Regina, one grandson, Ian McKenna Colwell, sister Rose Ellen
Pearce,
brother, Joseph R. Weaver, numerous nieces and nephews and
grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends will be received
Tuesday at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, with a Rosary at
8:00p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church,
12521
Inwood Road, with Rev. Neil Jarreau, S.J. celebrant, at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday. Burial to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetary. Pallbearers
will be
Sheffield Kadane, Jr., Kenneth Fields, Zack Johnson, Joseph
Weaver, Jr.,
Royce Humpert, and Peter Pearce. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be
